What's the difference between assisted living and a nursing home?

Assisted living is for people who need help with daily things like medications, bathing, dressing, and meals, but don't need round the clock skilled nursing. Residents have their own room and keep their routines. If a higher level of care becomes necessary, we'll tell you directly and help you plan the next step.

How is the memory care neighborhood kept safe?

Both communities have a secured memory care neighborhood with controlled entry and an enclosed courtyard, so residents can move around freely and safely. Staff are present at all times.

Can my parent bring their own furniture?

Yes. Rooms are unfurnished, so residents bring their own bed, chairs, and the things that make a room feel like theirs. We'll help with the layout on move in day.

How will I hear from the team?

We reach out when something changes, whether that's a new behavior, a fall, or a medication adjustment. You can always call the direct line and reach a real person, not a queue.

Do you offer respite or short term stays?

Yes. Both communities offer respite care, a short stay of a few days to a few weeks, in assisted living or the secured memory care section. It suits a caregiver who needs a break, a parent recovering after a hospital stay, or a trial run before a permanent move. Call the community to arrange the dates.

How do I know if it's the right time?

Often it's when home no longer feels safe. Missed medications, a fall, growing isolation, or a caregiver who's worn down. There's no perfect moment, and the decision is rarely easy. Come visit, meet the team, and we'll give you an honest answer about whether we're the right fit for your family.

The person who answers the phone here knows the residents by name and can tell you how your parent's day actually went. Assisted living and secured memory care are under one roof, so a parent settles in once and stays as their needs change. The same family runs The Gardens in Crystal River, a short drive away.
