The Gardens

Family owned, in Crystal River minutes from downtown and the waterfront. Assisted living and memory care with sunroom dining over the gardens. Accepts Florida Medicaid.

Absolutely love this building. Every time I come in there I am greeted with happy faces and smiling patients. It is a great assisted living facility with a home like feel, and every person in the building knows the name of the resident. The staff are extremely friendly and the administrator there is extremely responsive.Mindy W., on Google

Where one does, we point you to it rather than repeat a figure for someone else's business.

What assisted living costs

Florida median

$5,610a month

National median

$6,200a month

These are market medians published by CareScout, not our rates. Both figures describe a private one bedroom and are not adjusted for how much daily help a person needs, which is the thing that moves a real number most. A median is a middle point across many communities, so any one community sits above or below it.

What affects the cost of assisted living

Three things move the cost most: how much daily help a resident needs, the room type (a private studio costs more than a shared room), and whether the care is assisted living or a secured memory care neighborhood. Communities that accept Florida Medicaid can also lower the out of pocket cost for families who qualify. Ask the free counselors below what help you may be eligible for. Our own starting figures are published in full.

Help paying for care

Several programs can help Florida families with the cost of assisted living. This is a starting point, not advice. For your own situation, call one of the free counselors below. If you have been searching for a community that takes Medicare, start with which benefits actually pay for assisted living, because Medicare is not one of them.

Florida Medicaid

Florida's Statewide Medicaid Managed Care Long Term Care program can help cover assisted living for residents who qualify financially and medically. Sugarmill Manor and The Gardens both accept it.

Florida SMMC Long Term Care

Optional State Supplementation

OSS is a monthly state payment that helps lower income residents with the room and board part of assisted living.

Florida DCF public assistance

VA Aid and Attendance

Veterans and surviving spouses who need help with daily activities may qualify for the VA Aid and Attendance benefit, paid on top of a VA pension.
