Trinity Regional Rehab Center sits in southwest Pasco County, in Trinity near State Road 54. If your parent is finishing rehab there and cannot safely go home, the nearer of our two family owned communities is Sugarmill Manor in Homosassa, about an hour north, and The Gardens in Crystal River is about an hour and a half.

That is a real drive up the coast, and we say so plainly. Families who want a smaller coastal community, or who have relatives in Citrus County, make it. If a closer option fits better, choose what is closest.

When assisted living is the right next step

Medicare covers a skilled rehab stay for a limited time, and only while daily skilled care is needed. When a parent is stronger but living alone is not safe, assisted living picks up with help for daily tasks and medications, and caregivers on site around the clock, without hospital level nursing.

The move is mostly timing and paperwork. Our after rehab guide for Citrus County walks through the steps so this page stays short.

A short stay while you decide

You do not have to commit to a full move the week rehab ends. A short respite stay lets a parent keep recovering in a real apartment while you tour and compare at your own pace.

When you are ready, visit the Homosassa community, the closer of the two, or call us to talk it through.

Florida Medicaid can help pay for the care a parent receives in assisted living, though it does not cover room and board and can have a waitlist. Ask us where you stand.
