County Road 486, the Norvell Bryant Highway, begins at US 41 in Hernando and runs west across the county until it meets State Road 44 outside Crystal River. One turn at each end, a straight run in between. That is the difference between a visit you can make on a Tuesday evening after work and a visit you have to plan a weekend around. For a family in Hernando, the real question is usually which direction you are willing to drive several times a week: east toward Inverness, or west across the county.
